What Services Do I Offer?

I offer tuition in various computer-related subjects, in your home or office, for complete beginners or more advanced.

For the last year I’ve been volunteering as a Computer Buddy at Westgate-on-Sea Library, helping people use the library’s computers, as well as their own laptops and tablets. I give them lessons in basic computer use, or help them solve particular problems that they’re having.

Some of my students are complete beginners who find computers scary. They may have tried unsuccessfully to use computers in the past. My patient and encouraging approach seems to work well for them.

If you’re suffering from a software problem, there’s a good chance I can help. Call me out at no risk: if I can’t fix your problem I won’t charge you anything.

I have a good knowledge of the Windows operating system, as well as Android tablets/smartphones and a variety of apps. Besides fixing software problems I can help with such things as:

  • Configuring your system and apps to work the way you want
  • Advising you on the purchase of new apps and devices
  • Installing new apps and devices.

Sorry, I don’t repair hardware.

I can help with a variety of work using Microsoft Office:

  • Word documents (simple or complex layout)
  • Excel spreadsheets (with advanced features where needed)
  • Simple databases, using Excel
  • Setting up mail and email merge
  • Automating routine tasks, by means of VBA (macro) programming
  • Proofreading and technical writing

If you have a website already, I can make changes or fix problems for you. I can also develop new websites from scratch.

I specialise in WordPress websites (like the one you’re reading). The benefit of WordPress is that, once the site is set up, you can easily edit and add content (text and pictures) without any specialist knowledge. You won’t need me to keep your site up-to-date for you. But if you prefer to let me take care of everything, I can do that too.

If you only need a simple website you may well be able to create it by yourself. Free resources like and have made website creation relatively easy, with no coding required. If you choose to go down that route, I’m still available should you find you’d like some help. I can also convert you to “self-hosted” WordPress later, if you reach a stage where the more basic no longer meets all your needs.

If you have an existing non-WordPress site, I may still be able to help with making improvements to it, or converting it to WordPress.
